Our annual STEM Showcase presents science, technology, engineering & math principles at a fun, interactive event.  Students and their families attend the Showcase to visit STEM booths hosted by area organizations, teachers, and industry that showcase hands-on activities designed to engage youth of all ages. The goal of the Showcase is to inspire students, parents, teachers, and the general public with STEM projects and show how they are applicable to future careers.  Past hits have included a catapult challenge, underwater vehicle exploration, robotics, rocket launches, bridge building (and virtual bridge building!), field medicine, egg drops, animals, circuitry, 3D printing/animation, X-ray technology, and more.

In 2020, our super-dedicated Puget Sound Naval Shipyard & Intermediate Maintenance Facility (PSNS & IMF) and Naval Undersea Warfare Center (NUWC) –Keyport Showcase team launched a virtual version of the Bridge Building competition for students from across the Olympic and Kitsap Peninsulas. They tested 188 bridges submitted by students in the West Sound STEM region!  Armed with new ideas, resources and know-how, the sky is the limit!

For a peek at the virtual competition, watch this youtube video (an edited version of the 7-hour, split-screen, live-streaming event.)

Are you an organization, business, professional, or student that has created a STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) project, works in a related field, or a leader in STEM innovation?

Become a part of the Annual West Sound STEM Showcase and help thousands engage in STEM!  During the 2020 pandemic, our talented STEM Showcase team adapted the Showcase’s Build A Bridge competition to an online format.  In future, there will be opportunities to bring STEM activities to our students whether in-person, online, or even a hybrid format!  Come share your idea and help area youth get excited about science, technology, engineering & math in action!
